About Us

We are a two-person company, consisting of Ranka Gatu, artist and performer; and Scott Hill, business and stage manager. The two of us formed a union of sorts in the fall of 1970, when we met at a London art school. Having argued over politics on our first meeting, the two of us soon came to also enjoy visiting art museums, exploring London’s back streets, and picnicking in Hampstead Heath.

After travels to North Africa together, Ranka joined Scott in America, where she developed her puppetry while Scott pursued studies and work in educational psychology and instructional media development.

Finding it surprisingly difficult for Ranka to continue the puppetry career she had started in Sweden, Ranka and Scott turned to weekend street performing at Ghirardelli Square, in San Francisco. Soon Scott quit his job at a computer company so they both could work full-time developing their new puppet-theatre company.
